Before joining the
Midland Bank I had a number of jobs including digging holes and
cleaning bacon boilers! Since leaving the Midland Bank in 1976,
where I gained invaluable experience as a lender and corporate
planner, I have been involved in many business challenges. These
have included running several of my own businesses and I have also
been involved in several business start ups and rescues in a
variety of sectors, the businesses all being profitably sold
as going concerns.
I am a professionally qualified banker and am available as a
consultant to businesses in all sectors and further information on
the provision of debt and mezzanine debt for the property sector can
be found on
www.propertydevelopmentandinvestmentfinance.com.
Since 2001, I have been a Director of The London Press Club, having
initially been Finance Director. I am now Deputy Chairmen with
responsibility for the
day to day running of the largely voluntary club, concentrating on
the expansion and general management. Further details on The London
Press Club can be found at
www.londonpressclub.co.uk.
I have been involved in endless charity activities for forty years,
including the London Press Club Charity Ball, and have always been
happy to make speeches or conduct auctions for charities on
preferential terms, sometimes free!
In the 1980s I served as a District Councillor and also stood for
Parliament.
Most sports interest me and I have been an Arsenal supporter all my
life. But as you will have gathered from the introduction, cricket
is my passion and I hope to play it for decades to come! I am
President of North Curry Cricket Club, and a Vice President of
Somerset County Cricket Club.
I am a member of the Royal Commonwealth Society and Club and of
Gerry’s Club. |
