Hi there! Welcome to my web site in which I will tell you something about myself.

As you will see from these pages, I live a varied and exciting life and look forward to every day with youthful energy and enthusiasm much younger than my actual years! I get up every day to enjoy myself, make money and put something back into society by doing some good.

I enjoy all sport but have a passion for cricket beyond all other and have been lucky enough to have played over 1,000 games, spread across both hemispheres, different continents, grounds large and small, not all grass, and have even played on sand in the desert! And I’ve not finished yet...

My charity works brings me into contact with many interesting people, but perhaps my work on Shield, which is the revision of the UN Charter where we have support for the concept from many people including President Jimmy Carter and President Michel Gorbachev, is most stimulating because of those I meet and talk with world wide.

I devote a page to this as I do to my books, to my after dinner speeches and auctioneering and a page to my business activities where you will also be introduced to my role in the London Press Club. The Press Club is a largely voluntary organisation with a Board you’d struggle to buy, but is a major conduit between the media and industry, commerce and the government.

One of the problems which I faced at school in the nineteen fifties, being able in class and useless on paper, resulted in me being accused of being lazy! Although I have now traced my family back centuries through France and Sweden, all I knew then was that we were dockers and street traders for centuries in London. All anything but lazy! Maybe it is a combination of that inheritance and having to survive at school that created my insatiable appetite for work and life in general! I had no idea then that one ancestor was George de Selve, the Bishop of Lavaur pictured in Holbien’s “The Ambassadors”. There’s a story to the second S being added, but the physical resemblance is scary! No-one knows what he was doing in London at the time, but he seems to have been a wheeler dealer fixer – no doubt he would have been quite at home in some familiar parts of London!
